This shoot was my first hands-on experience with professional photography and client relations. Developing a wireframe and basing my aesthetic style off a moodboard was a unique experience, which I hope to replicate during future shoots. I quickly learned when editing the photos from this shoot that nightlife photography is an incredibly unique skill that comes with its own set of rules and difficulties.
Firstly, DJ Russo requested heavy use of flash photography; this is not inherently difficult, as it allows you to control your own lighting. The problem with flash photography when shooting nightlife like this is the distraction of the flash in a dark club. There are many RAW files sitting in my SSD with heavy amounts of shutter drag and squinted eyes. Finding moments is important, but capturing many parts of each moment is even more important to get the right shot.
